Week #6: Monday -  From talking to my lecturer on Friday there was a lot she had suggested to me about my ideas and gave me some good ideas of what to work on. Below are the things she suggested to change and look at... Poster #1: - Instead of having the poster landscape have it portrait - Like the bright colours of the poster, it goes with the culture of the many armed woman statue - keep the title (tag line) bright pink - come up with a different tag line - make the image have blurred arms to make it look like she's doing everything all at once - make her face more feminine looking Old New and improved Poster #2: - put the blurred arms effect on the vector image to make it look like she's doing everything all at once as well - come up with a different tag line - change sub text to make it more relatable to my topic - look at different ways to layout the text Old New and improved Thursday -  Today is hand i...

Week 5

Week #5: Monday -  Second Interim presentation: In this presentation, I had come up with another two concepts and printed them out in A2. These two ideas were from inspiration from more research I have done.  2 new concepts -                      Critique -  For my first concept (the two babies) it was too close to work that was already online so I had to come up with a brand new poster concept. For my second concept (the vector graphic) a lot of people preferred it. This is because it was a simple concept and easy to understand with the woman having many arms in the air doing everything at once. However, people thought it didn't need as much secondary text in it and was suggested that the man was not needed in the concept because my topic idea was already shown with the woman. From this critique, I needed to come up with another poster concept and edit the one that people liked ...

Week 4

Week #4: Monday -  In the lecture, this morning image and type relation were discussed. It was good to see some examples and have the tutors talk to us about how where to add text to our concepts but my concepts so far are pretty basic and I haven't really got any text in them. However, from this lecture, I learned a lot and have now got a few ideas.  At this point tho in my poster creations I was struggling a lot because I couldn't get a solid grip on concepts and poster ideas but did some research and created some concepts for my next class to show my lecturers what they thought. In not being in class last week, I missed out on the lecturers talking about Aim>Concept>Strategy, however I have been able to catch up and now I need to create an Aim, concept and strategy for my posters to help people understand what topic I am covering though my posters. Thursday -  For todays class, after talking to my tutor about some new ideas I h...

Week 3

Week #3: Monday -  Today is our first interim presentation where we are showing our first poster ideas and concepts. We will be getting feedback for what our pairs think and see if our poster concepts can be related to our chooses ideas.  4 poster concepts for my topic -  Critique -  From this critique, people understood what my topic was through looking at my posters however in one of my concepts (the one with the stars) they didn't understand how it related to my topic. I was trying to show that there are very few woman with into workforce being paid the same or more as all the other men. But I understand how they wouldn't be able to relate the concept to the topic with there not being any stats or gender related ideas. Out of my for concepts, the one that was most like was the one with the woman standing in front of the brick wall (the one with the green dot sticker on it). Thursday -  For today's class I wasn't able ...

Week 2

Week #2: Monday -  In today's lecture we watched an episode of Abstract: The Art of Design, with the episode being about an artist called Christoph Niemann. So this show his progress and how he moved on when he had blocks in his creations. With his method I might try doing illustration doodles like he did with doodling his ideas on paper. This weeks classes - We did exercises that were quick where it would make us think on our feet to try and generate some possibilities for our topic we might choose. We were given random numbers which all of them had a specific word to them and then were given and the other number that we were given had a phrase which we then had to combine to create a visual outcome relating to our chosen topic. This was quite hard relating all three things together. As homework we have to finish at least 10 concepts for word relating to our topic and 10 concepts for phrases relating to our topic. (Add in image of this from work book) ...

Week 1

Week #1: Introduction to Ihi Wehi & Visual rhetoric Today was the first class of semester two, so the lecturers were introducing the paper and what the assignment is all about. In little groups in class we discussed how Ihi and Whi will relate to our work that we produce. We also did some other group work looking at other artist model posters and dipicting what they mean. For the topic we have to create two A2 posters on an inequality in New Zealand. So for homework I am going to start brain storming what topic I would like to do and doing some research.
